Getting a visa done is sometimes a stressful process, luckily for you we are here to help!
The German visa process is a fairly easy process and
waiting for a verdict may take up to 4 weeks since the appointment was attended, however waiting times may be longer in some cases. Though lengthy it is fairly easy. Before you attend the appointment, a few things have to be done and a couple of documents have to be gathered first.
The visa process formally starts once you have confirmed the match with your host family. They will get documentation ready on their side and our Visa Experts will give you all the needed documentation. It may take up to 3 weeks to gather the documentation.
You will be assisted with the online visa application whilst we wait for your documents. Documents that you have to gather from your side prior to attending the appointment includes where available: Proof of qualification, for example, diplomas, certificates, work log with translation (original and copies). Proof of German language skills at A1 level in the form of a recognized language diploma (original and copies). Proof of adequate financial means (as a rule in the form of the au-pair contract)Documents not in the English language must be submitted with a certified German translation. A translation of the personal data page of the passport is, however, not required. - Certificates, diplomas, etc. must be presented in the original. Your original documents will be returned to you once your application has been processed.
The total visa costs for Germany are 75 Euro (approx. R1300 at the time of print). Once your application has been handed in electronically, we will assist you to make an appointment at the German embassy. The appointment is attended in Pretoria, South Africa at the German Embassy or at the German consulate in Cape Town, South Africa. Citizens of Namibia will go to the German Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia. Citizens of Botswana will attend their appointments in Gaborone, Botswana. Zimbabweans may attend the appointment in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Once the appointment has been attended there is a 4-week waiting period for visa to be issued. You will be notified once your passport is ready for pick up or your passport will be couriered to you (it depends on which option you chose).
When you have received your passport, we can formally start to book your flights and then you are ready for departure!
