Getting a visa done is sometimes a stressful process, luckily for you we are here to help!
The Netherlands visa process is a fairly easy process and waiting for a verdict may take up to 15 business days since the appointment was attended, however waiting times may be longer in some cases. Before you attend the appointment, a few things have to be done and a couple of documents have to be gathered first.
The visa process formally starts once you have confirmed the match with your host family. They will get documentation ready on their side and our Visa Experts will give you all the needed documentation. It may take up to 2 months to gather the documentation and get the permit approval.
Documentation that we have to have ready for the permit application:
Medical Form: Our team will send this through once you have matched with a family. You need to fill this out together with a doctor. This form may be printed and scanned to send back to us. You will be covered on the host families’ medical insurance. They cover you if you get sick there etc. They do not cover pre-existing conditions. Make sure the doctor stamps the last page. You will see that the doctor is requested to do some tests. You need to do the following tests: HIV, Pregnancy, Hepatitis A&B and a TB Test.
Full original Unabridged birth certificate: This is very important You need to apply for this at Home Affairs. You need to take your details, as well as your parents’ details (ID numbers). This document you need to live in the Netherlands legally. Please do so ASAP as it can take long! NB – Please do not laminate your birth certificate as it will have to get legalized through DIRCO and they cannot legalize it if it is laminated.
Letter of Non-impediment: Apply with the Unabridged Birth Certificate at Home Affairs. This letter states that you are unmarried and is very crucial for the work permit application.
Both your Unabridged birth certificate as well as your non-impediment letters have to be legalized at DIRCO (This applies to South African citizens only). Citizens of Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia have to send the documents to get an Apostille at their authorities.
You will be assisted to schedule a visa appointment at the Embassy whilst we wait for your documents to be issued.
You will not be paying any fees to attend the Embassy appointment nor will you pay any fees for the permit application. The appointment is attended in Pretoria, South Africa at the Embassy of The Kingdom of The Netherlands. South African citizens can also visit the Embassy in Cape Town. Citizens of Namibia and Botswana will also attend their appointments in Pretoria, South Africa. Zimbabweans may attend the appointment in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Once the appointment has been attended there is a 15-day waiting period for the visa sticker to be issued. You will be notified once your passport is ready for pick up. Upon receipt of your passport you will notice that the visa is only valid for 3 months - do not stress about this, it is only an entry sticker, you will receive your residence permit upon arrival in The Netherlands
When you have received your passport, we can formally start to book your flights and then you are ready for departure!
